Golf is the most popular sports event in the world. On 26 February 1297, it is recorded as taking place in Loenen aan de Vecht the city of Netherlands, where the Dutch played this game with a stick and leather ball. Whoever hit the ball into several hundred yards away with the least number of strokes was the winner. Some people argue that Golf was played of putting a small ball in the hole in the ground since 17th century in Scotland. Some scholars also report that origion of Golf from continental Europe.

In the mid of 17th century, Golf began to spread to all countries of the world. In 1766, the first club of Golf was formed in England, and the first club of Golf in France was formed in 1856. In 1894, the United States Golf Association was formed. The oldest Golf club is the Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh that was formed in 1735.

Ball of Golf has changed a lot over the years. First it was made of wood then the ball had changed into leather called the feathery. In the mid of 18th century, the ball evolved into gutty. Gutty was made from mold. The idea of this new and more useful ball was given by Reverend Robert Preston. Then another type of ball came into existance called haskel and was made from dimples.

Ryder Cup is a one of the greatest Golf event. Ryder Cup play between teams from United States and Europe. United States has won the trophy 24 times and Europe has won the trophy 9 times. The first Ryder Cup was held on 4 June 1927.
