There are two main types of horse racing in Great Britain. Flat Races and National Hunt Races Flat races are between March and November. National Hunt the race which is over hurdles or fences, are between October to April. Race meetings are held at different race courses across Great Britain

Horse racing is the king of all sports. The history of horse racing dates back many thousand of years when Romans and Ancient Greeks raced horses in competion. The first example of horse racing came into existance in UK over 300 hundred years ago . The UK was the place where horse racing developed and flourished before becoming a global sport. Now horse racing is a major professional sport event in Ireland, Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and also South America.

In 1814, five races have been designated as classics for three year old horses.Three races open for male and female horses. The other two races open for female horses only. In 19th century, the first track for horse racing was constructed.

The most famous race of horses is Grand National which held every year at Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool United Kingdom . Grand National consists of three continues days in April and each day has a race over the spectacular Grand National fences.

Royal Ascot is one of the most famous race meeting which held at Ascot race course Berkshire, United Kingdom. It consists of five days in June, and is the major horse racing event in the British social calender, because the Princes arriving at each day of this event. Other most famous events of English summer seoson are Glorious Goodwood and York Ebor.
