20 teams will go to New Zealand looking to win the world cup. The competitive nature of the professionals that will step out to Eden Park, North Harbour, Waikato, Wellington Regional stadium and many more stadiums across New Zealand, set their sights on the ultimate goal. Lifting the William Web Ellis Cup. Yet, of course, only one team can do this. Martin Johnson lifted the trophy for England in 2003 under Sir Clive Woodward; an honour only greats have had the privilege of doing.

New Zealand is unique to the cup as it hosts the largest rugby competition in the world across two islands. The north and south islands are each different, one made up of stunning Glaciers and Ski resorts in the South Island and the built up cities that complete the north island. Giving the diverse cultures present on each Island, you could spend years their and never see the complete picture, but as the world cup goes down under, the opportunity arises to see the beauty of each Island. Each culture, nonetheless, lives and breathes rugby and as the country’s traditions completely immerse you in breathtaking atmosphere, you will not help but to feel firstly, intimidated by Maori traditions but moreover lost in the excitement of rugby’s great event. New Zealand hosts rugby’s most intensely fought competition that greats such as Jonah Lomu have previously lit up, famously running literally through the England team in 1995. Seasoned hands of the sport such as Shane Williams, who will be playing in his third world cup, will look to bow out of the world stage a legend. Young talents such as Quade Cooper of Australia and Ben Youngs of England will be merely two of the young stars spectators will be elated to watch as their flare makes them an interest whenever on the ball. A marvellous spectacle is in store and the event is certainly not one to be missed out.
